About Unakite

Unakite is a granitic rock combining pink orthoclase feldspar with green epidote — the pink and green together give it its particular tenderness. Named after the Unaka Mountains of North Carolina. It is the gardener's crystal of the emotional body.

Used in Native American ceremony and increasingly in modern emotional release work and couples therapy.

Common fakes: Dyed glass, plastic, or less valuable stones passed off as the real thing.

How to tell the real thing: Real crystals are heavier than glass or plastic of the same size, stay cool to the touch, and usually show natural inclusions or colour zoning — too-uniform colour is a warning sign. Buy from trusted sources and ask the seller about origin and treatment.
