Why do some crystals cost much more than others?
Price reflects size, clarity, colour saturation, rarity, ethics of sourcing, and whether the crystal has been left natural or enhanced. A deep-violet Brazilian amethyst geode weighing a kilogram costs many times more than a small tumbled piece — and for good reason. In the healing tradition, a higher-grade crystal carries a cleaner, stronger, more coherent energy field.
Does a more expensive crystal work better than a cheaper one?
Generally, yes. A clearer, larger, untreated crystal carries more of the mineral’s natural frequency. Think of a cloudy small amethyst tumble as a candle, and a deep-violet geode as a lantern — both give light, one fills the room. Healers often invest in one or two key pieces rather than collecting many small ones, because the stronger field does the work of several.
Can a single high-grade crystal replace several smaller ones?
Yes. A high-clarity clear quartz point or a rose quartz sphere can anchor a whole room or practice — where otherwise you would place four or five smaller pieces. This is also why a single powerful crystal can hold multiple intentions at once, where a smaller piece tends to hold one at a time. A single well-chosen clear quartz programmed with three intentions will serve better than three separate small crystals each holding one.
What makes a crystal ‘high grade’?
Four markers: clarity (fewer cloudy inclusions), colour saturation (rich, even colour in the species’ own hue), natural formation (no heat treatment, no irradiation, no dye), and size relative to the crystal’s rarity. A one-inch ruby is high grade; a one-inch amethyst is ordinary. Context matters.

Can crystals work on more than one intention at the same time?

Does size of the crystal matter?
Yes. Larger crystals have a wider field of effect. A tumble stone affects the pocket or the person carrying it. A palmstone is for the hand during practice. A sphere radiates into a whole room. A geode affects an entire space. If you want a crystal to hold an intention for your home, not just your body, size up.
How do I choose the right crystal for me?

How do I know my crystal is real, not fake?
Weight (real crystals are heavier than glass or plastic), temperature (cool to the touch), natural imperfections (too-perfect is suspicious), and the sound when gently tapped (a clear ring for quartz, a dull thud for plastic). How should I cleanse a new crystal?
Place on a windowsill under the full moon overnight, or pass through sage, palo santo, or camphor smoke. Avoid prolonged sun for amethyst, rose quartz, fluorite, and other coloured crystals (it fades the hue). Avoid water for soft or water-sensitive crystals like malachite, lapis lazuli, and pyrite.
How do I programme a crystal with my intention?
Cleanse first. Hold the crystal in cupped palms. Breathe slowly for a minute. Speak or think the intention clearly and simply — ‘help me sleep’, ‘give me courage at the interview’, ‘open my heart’. Repeat the intention daily for about a week. After that, the crystal holds it.
