About Smoky Quartz
Smoky quartz is clear quartz naturally darkened by aluminium and natural radiation in the earth — a crystal that has literally sat in the dark and absorbed. This is exactly its gift: it absorbs heavy emotion and transmutes it into the ground.
Scottish highlanders called it the Cairngorm crystal after the mountains where it is found. Carved into the hilts of ceremonial daggers. Used in Druid ritual.

How to Identify a Real Smoky Quartz
Common fakes: Heat-irradiated clear quartz (done to darken it artificially).
How to tell the real thing: Natural smoky quartz is a warm, slightly uneven brown-black — the colour deepens toward the tip. Irradiated pieces are a flat uniform grey-black with no gradient.
