About Amethyst
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, its colour drawn from trace iron and natural irradiation deep inside the earth. Harder than steel, softer in spirit than almost any crystal in the kit, it has been carried by saints, kings, and sleepless children for at least three thousand years.
Ancient Greeks carved drinking cups of it believing it prevented drunkenness. Tibetan monks use it as prayer beads for the Buddha. In India it sits on the crown of the meditator and is dear to Jupiter and Saturn in Jyotish practice.

How to Identify a Real Amethyst
Common fakes: Dyed glass (too-uniform purple), heat-treated synthetic quartz, plastic beads.
How to tell the real thing: Real amethyst shows natural colour zoning — uneven violet with paler bands or areas near the base. It stays cool in the hand. It has small inclusions visible in good light. Tap it gently against another crystal: real amethyst rings, plastic thuds.
