About Rainbow Obsidian
Rainbow obsidian is volcanic glass — lava that cooled so fast it never crystallised. The iridescence comes from nanoscale layers of magnetite within the glass. Unlike pure black obsidian which can bring up wounds brutally, rainbow obsidian reveals them with compassion, wrapped in light.
Mexican and Central American shamans used all obsidians for scrying and for surgery (obsidian blades are sharper than surgical steel). Rainbow obsidian specifically for grief and inherited trauma.

How to Identify a Real Rainbow Obsidian
Common fakes: Dyed glass, plastic, or less valuable stones passed off as the real thing.
How to tell the real thing: Real crystals are heavier than glass or plastic of the same size, stay cool to the touch, and usually show natural inclusions or colour zoning — too-uniform colour is a warning sign. Buy from trusted sources and ask the seller about origin and treatment.
