About Howlite

Howlite is a soft calcium silicate with grey veining on white — often dyed blue or turquoise for the cheap jewellery market (real howlite is creamy white). Despite being one of the softer crystals, it holds a field of remarkable calm.

Discovered relatively recently (1868, Nova Scotia) and named after its discoverer. Quickly adopted by modern sleep therapists.

Healing Properties

The sleep crystal. Quiets angry thoughts, eases insomnia, and teaches patience. Gentle for sensitive beginners.

Chakra & Element

Howlite works primarily with the Crown chakra and the Air element. This is why it tends to appear in healing work around crown-related concerns — the frequency of the crystal resonates with this energy centre.

How to Identify a Real Howlite

Common fakes: Dyed glass, plastic, or less valuable stones passed off as the real thing.

How to tell the real thing: Real crystals are heavier than glass or plastic of the same size, stay cool to the touch, and usually show natural inclusions or colour zoning — too-uniform colour is a warning sign. Buy from trusted sources and ask the seller about origin and treatment.
