About Prehnite

Prehnite is a calcium aluminium silicate — soft green with an internal glow, often called 'the crystal within a crystal' because it frequently contains inclusions of epidote that look like lines of electricity. Its gift is deep unconditional love, offered without the sentimentality of rose quartz.

Named after a Dutch colonel who discovered it in South Africa in the 1700s. Adopted quickly by healers for its capacity to renew depleted helpers.

How to Identify a Real Prehnite

Common fakes: Dyed glass, plastic, or less valuable stones passed off as the real thing.

How to tell the real thing: Real crystals are heavier than glass or plastic of the same size, stay cool to the touch, and usually show natural inclusions or colour zoning — too-uniform colour is a warning sign. Buy from trusted sources and ask the seller about origin and treatment.
