About Citrine
Natural citrine is a yellow-to-amber variety of quartz, far rarer than its heat-treated amethyst cousin (most 'citrine' sold is actually burnt amethyst). True citrine is a self-cleansing crystal that never holds negativity, making it one of only two crystals that need no purification — the other is kyanite.
The 'merchant's crystal' of European shopkeepers, placed in the cash drawer to draw prosperity. In Hindu tradition, associated with Guru (Jupiter) and worn as yellow sapphire's affordable counterpart.

How to Identify a Real Citrine
Common fakes: Heat-treated amethyst (most ‘citrine’ on the market is this, not real citrine).
How to tell the real thing: Heat-treated citrine is a uniform bright orange, often with burnt white tips — a tell-tale sign. Natural citrine is a softer smoky-yellow, rarely deep orange. If in doubt, ask the seller directly whether it is natural or heated. Genuine natural citrine is rare and priced accordingly.
