About Carnelian
Carnelian is translucent orange chalcedony — its fire comes from iron oxide. Egyptian warriors wore it into battle, Islamic tradition holds the Prophet wore one inscribed with his seal, and Tibetan and Indian healers use it at the sacral chakra for vitality and creative drive.
The Egyptian Book of the Dead specifies a carnelian amulet at the throat of the mummy for courage in the afterlife.

How to Identify a Real Carnelian
Common fakes: Heated agate (dyed orange), glass.
How to tell the real thing: Hold up to light: real carnelian shows a cloudy-stripe or banded pattern inside. Heated agate shows sharp colour edges. Real carnelian is translucent around the edges but opaque in the body.
